Why should funders care about impact?
Where:Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 50 Hoxton Square, London N1 6PB, United Kingdom
When:19th September 2011 — from 5:15 PM to 7:30 PM
A discussion on why impact should matter to funders, with Jacob Harold from the Hewlett Foundation, Andrew Barnett from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Tris Lumley from New Philanthropy Capital.
SIAA is delighted to host a debate on why funders care about impact, in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Most funders say they want evidence that non-profits are delivering on their goals, yet few give on the basis of rigorous impact measurement. Why is that the case and what is being done to place impact at the core of non-profit funding?
Jacob Harold from the Hewlett Foundation will provide a snapshot of the state of play of impact-led funding in the US. He will also discuss the Hewlett Foundation’s philanthropy programme and Charting Impact, an initiative to help US non-profits better understand their performance and impact. Andrew Barnett of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation will provide a response, in a discussion chaired by Tris Lumley of New Philanthropy Capital.
The event will conclude with a half hour Q&A and a short drinks reception, kindly hosted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
